Scotsman Part Destroys My Evening!

It had been a Friday evening and my restaurant seemed to be completely booked. It was starting to get chaotic but not more than common for a Friday night. I could see it was likely to be a good night for us. All of a sudden Ricky came running up to me through the back. "We are in trouble!" he whispered to me. Worried, I went with him straight to the kitchen. He next explained to me that our ice maker had killed out on us. I believe that it is safe to say that I was freaking out. I right away sent one of the bus boys out to the corner service station to order a few bags of ice. Our shop has a Scotsman Prodigy ice maker. It has been working pretty good for quite a while for the restaurant, but like every piece of equipment in the coffee shop, there's always something... My partner and I took the panel off the unit and instantly I could see the water pump had been broken since it was smoking and smelled like the motor in the water pump had burnt up. My ice machine is no longer under manufacturer's warranty so all of our service calls for the unit have been starting to get pricey. I knew the part that we needed was the water pump, and so I figured that I could buy the part and fix it by myself. I phoned the salesman from our dealer, who was practically sleeping at the time, she told me they dont normally stock Scotsman parts, I would need to wait until Monday morning to get the part ordered thereafter it would take 2 to 3 weeks for the pump to get in. This was simply unacceptable. We were in no way, shape, or form going to buy bagged ice for the following two weeks. I made my associate take control at the front door and then I went into my office and shut the door. I slumped into my workdesk chair, the flawed water pump in my palm. "Why does it continually have to be this way?" I thought. I looked down on the pump and saw a little label on the bottom of it. The part number was right there. I instantly cranked up my laptop or pc and popped up a internet browser. I put the part number inside the search bar "Come on.... Please!" I begged. I double clicked on one of several internet pages in the search and spotted the water pump I was looking for. I excitedly clicked on the "Add to Cart" button and was happily surprised to see that even with quick shipping and delivery; the pump was in fact cheaper than if I were to purchase it from our dealership! I opened the entrance doors to the bistro on Tuesday morning and noticed the package sitting there in front of the entrance. I ripped it open and there had been my new water pump. It pretty much seemed too good to be true. I linked the pump up in the ice maker and it started right up and began making ice. I am certain I cannot be the only diner owner who may have Scotsman ice machine problems. If I may give any kind of advice on this area of interest, it would be: At least check on the web first, and then check with your Scotsman rep. Scotsman parts are less expensive on-line. I can provide the name of the web-site which I located my part at. The Kitchen Restaurant Store has a ton of additional Scotsman and other ice machine parts, and its definitely worth a look.
